Since you put in the subject that it was specifically a warning about Ford Fusions, I must add the following:
Get a Hybrid Ford Fusion, and you will not have any problems with flat towing. Ford's hybrid drivetrain with the eCVT transmission is perfectly fine for flat towing, has been for several years. That was the main reason we went with the Fusion Hybrid. Oh, and the incredible mileage is nice, too. :)
A 2nd on towing a Ford Fusion hybrid! Great car and super fuel economy (39 MPG average for the 1st 14,000 miles).
