A cell phone request

Fellow campers, please turn off your speaker phones when talking to Aunt Milley or Uncle Joe, etc.
The other day as I was sitting peacefully, reading at my camp site, my next door neighbor who was less then 50 feet away came out of their RV and proceeded to have a conversation with some relative, and every word from both parties could be heard where I was, after fifteen minutes of it, I went back into our place, and when I came out fifteen minutes later they were still going at it.

It used to be the younger ones with their boom boxes, and now it is the older ones.

Please consider us over the hill people and let us camp in peace and quiet

Thanks,

Guy

  • Walk over and tell the person. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SUFFER IN SILENCE!
  • The mental image from these comments is pretty funny. You see all the stuff in CG's that you see anywhere else just a little less frequently and with a twist.
  • :S Well I guess this one is less smelly than the dog poo gripes. :B

  • Heard one talking to her cell phone provider for more than an hour one day. Got her account number, credit card number and mother's maiden name. Hmm mm!
  • Yes, conversations when using the speaker on your cel phone does need to be inside. However, be thankful that you have good hearing that you can hear that conversation 50 feet away...my hearing is so bad that even with hearing aids, using the speaker phone is the only way I can carry on a conversation with my cel phone. That's why I typically only text.

  • It's amazing how people think that other people want to hear their conversations, or don't care that they are being rude when they talk on the phone in a restaurant, bathroom, standing in line anywhere. And it's not just young people. Young and old will bring their cell phones, Tablets, and laptops to restaurants and sit their during the entire meal playing games, updating Facebook, and who knows what. "Parents" let their teenagers do this to keep them quiet I guess, but then they do it too. Manners are a thing of the past.
  • I just join in the conversation answering questions, asking my own question and just making general comments.

Not only do I do it out camping but anywhere fools walk around yaking on their phones....restaurants, grocery stores, movie theaters, gas stations etc.

Figure IF they are going to do public yaking on phones then I have been invited by default to join in.
Want a private phone call don't do it in public
  • I'm guilty! I have to YELL in the phone to talk to my mother. She has a cell, and she never holds it up to ear. She holds it directly in front of her mouth. So she never hears when someone is speaking back. Drive me nuts!

MOM! MOM! MOM! HEY! WOULD YOU SHUT UP A MINUTE AND PUT THAT **** PHONE TO YOUR EAR! MOM! MOM!

By now, the entire campground is standing around me laughing! I figure.... oh what the hey! It's good entertainment for the neighbors!

Um ... not kidding on this one either! It really is that bad with my mother, so I just don't talk to her any more when camping! Plane and simple!
