Exactly. Up until about six years old maybe seven, if the child is not too heavy, they can run them down. A beagle can't do it. An older child can't do it generally. they are too heavy and their feet slide out from under them on turns. If the ground is damp it's a little harder.
You have to watch their feet. They can reach up and tear ou and your arm up badly. When I caught one, first order of business was to wring it's neck. Or cut it with the pocketknife. For several summers, when I was young I caught a lot of rabbits for the table.
