No, I'm not advertising anything other than I am sleeping much better on this mattress. Thanks for the compliment though... I think.
The mattress we bought several years ago had coils in individual pockets. But it didn't have a way to support itself. It needed a box spring under it. We tried putting a "bunky board" under it. (That's just a reinforced board for under a bunkbed mattress.) It did not work for long either.
Latex allergies? I don't have that problem so it's not an issue.
We bought a much cheaper ($400) latex mattress on closeout for our truck camper two years ago and we've taken two 6 month 5,000 mile trips in that and hubby really liked that mattress. He wanted to move that one into the class A but i had wanted an even firmer one for the class A. I got the one I wanted and I'm pretty happy with it. Hubby loves it too.
In all these purchases I've learned that not all mattress stores can take a used mattress. So don't think you can pull up to a store, walk in, find a mattress, buy it and have them carry it out to the rig... and expect them to off load your mattress and deal with it's disposal. That was news to us. We spent two hours finding just the right mattress...that they were willing to sell to us TODAY, right now... "cash and carry"... only to be told we'd have to schedule a PICKUP. (WE had told them this mattress was for our truck camper the moment we walked into the store.... but they didn't realize our truck camper was parked outside their store. Duh. and no, we did not want to wait until tomorrow for them to have a truck to put the old mattress in. (Putting it into their dumpster out back was not an option either. We left deciding to deal with it when we weren't on the road.)
I'm talking about two rigs and two different mattresses. But both mattresses were latex. There is a difference between those mattresses.
The $400 one in the truck camper is actually 9" thick. The doors to the side closets just barely make it across the top but we decided to raise the hinges on the doors rather than cut down the mattress 2". Glad we didn't because at 9" it's not as firm as the Latex Bliss which is 7" and I like the Latex Bliss much better.
I've only tried a sleep number bed for a short time in a store. I knelted on it and my knees went right down to the supporting board. Since I need to kneel on the bed to reach the cabinets over the bed, I did not think I could reach the storage very well unless I stood on the mattress. With my balance issues, that's not going to be fun. I remember sleeping on air mattresses in our Rocky Mountain tent camping days and it was always too cold for me. I had to have a wool blanket under me along with a down sleeping bag to be warm enough.
We've been married over 25 years and we've had everything from water beds to brand name beds. Probably changed out beds five times at least. This one's probably our last.
