Acme or Demco Kar Kaddy

Trying to decide between two available tow dollies.
MH is a 2007 Newmar Canyon Star (Gas) 3303. V10 Ford with OEM transmission. 20,500 GVWR and 25,500 GCWR. 5000# hitch.
We are towing a 2008 VW GTI FWD. (~ 3200# )

They both have surge brakes. Good.
The Demco has a tie rod that allows the dolly wheels to turn
thus minimizing drag around the corners.
The Acme is a bit lighter and with smaller wheels.
The prices are within $500 of each other and since both are late model used units, there is some negotiability on either unit.
Which would YOU go with and why?
Thanks in advance for your replies.

  • Over 40,000 on Demco KarKaddy and glad I got it. Never a rust problem as it is fully galvanized. If it's the SS model it has bright LED brake lights, the wheel ramps fold up and the tongue folds back to reduce storage space by almost 50%. What little (twice) experience I’ve had with Demco’s customer service has been GREAT.

  • Mine is an old Demco. It works for me.
I have looked at the Acme website, and watched the videos. I don't like it.
  • Demco for me. Built in loading ramps along with steering wheels. Made it a easy decision for me.
  • We have the Demco Kar Kaddy and it tows great. The fact the wheel on the dolly turns makes going around corners so much nicer. The large tires on the Kar Kaddy are also a big plus!!!
