We do use lots of state parks and many have FHU, but most have only water/electric. We use the bath houses for showers so we don't have to empty the tanks but every 6-7 days. We usually won't stay in a park more than that, so we can use the dump station on our way out.
We take lots of sandwiches with us as well as water and snacks and I use the crockpot to cook our dinner while we are out. We will usually take one night and do dinner out and have the specialty of the area.
I refuse to eat fast food if I can avoid it, but the kids like it, so that is limited to about once a week, too.
When on the road, we will stop at a rest area and make lunch from what is in the RV. I try to keep some food stuffs that can be prepared on the side of the road. Chicken salad croissants, fruit, re-heated leftovers from last night's dinner, egg sandwiches, omelets, etc. We use our stove, put the dishes in the sink and go on our way. I wash up while fixing dinner at our next stop.
If we purchase souvenirs, we will get T-shirts that the girls will wear for at least a year.
We do lots of traveling during the summer, so our girls usually have 5-6 new T-shirts to wear the first few weeks of school and their school mates are always interested in where they have been. We will have to purchase clothes for them before school starts, so this allows us to spread it over several months of purchasing and we don't end up with lots of junk to carry around.
