Yes, closer to home saves fuel and we'll be within 200 miles for all other trips this year except the big trip. That's 1900 miles and I'm prepared to pay for the fuel. It's still cheaper than driving, staying in hotels and eating out all the time so I can justify pulling the TT.
And you're right about the junk trinkets, they don't really look at them once they're home do they. Sometimes I have even noticed that they get lost in the camper before we get home! One thing I don't mind is the squished penny machine. It's cheap and neat and if it gets lost it's only $0.51.
