After owning the camper for 3 years I just learned something new about our awing. For 3 years I thought our camper had a design flaw. The door to our camper is right next to one of the awing supports, which prevents the door to open fully next next to the camper wall and also unable to use the T-Holder for the door.Well this past weekend went camping and I seen a family member unlatch one of their awing support poles from his camper and set it on the ground were the pole would be horizontal. I knew this was the procedure for our PopUp but never knew you could do it both ways with the hybrid. I have seen the "contraption" at the bottom the support attached to the camper but never really paid much attention to that you could unlatch it and set the support pole up and down on the ground instead of angled to the trailer.Cant wait to next camping trip to do this and be able to open the door fully and even latch the door with the T-holder!!Not sure if this post is in the right forum... but thought would help hybrid's and TT people instead of waiting 3 years like did to learn something new. I did not know,

I knew about this but n=have never tried it since I am not sure how to anchor the post to the ground.

We thought our Uncle was tearing up his awing when I seen him unlatch it from the side of his TT. All the pictures I have ever seen have always been the poles angled to the TT. I had to search for picture I posted.Live and learn.

I'm so smart (debatable), it "only" took me one year to figure this out. LOL. But I haven't actually done it yet. I think it's necessary to have something heavy to keep the feet in place, isn't it? Like a pail full of sand or something?

Pet leash anchor screw or tent stake work as a ground anchor.

That is one thing I miss. Ours has electric awning so that is not an option

I bought a set of these at an RV show and have never looked back. We lost one awning to wind and this company swore up and down it was the best on the market. Has never let me down and have friends who have bought them and use them and are vary satisfied.

you can use these with the awing in normal position or with the poles detached from the camper like everyone is talking about. We like the look of having the poles detached from the camper due to one thing - I DON'T HIT MY HEAD ANYMORE. :S

I wasn't clever enough to figure that out, but it sure sounds like a good plan. Thanks for the tip!

I believe mine came with carriage bolts and nuts, or maybe I bought them separately. At any rate, I have carriage bolts bolted one at the correct spacing and additional nuts to install with the leg is in place. In Arizona our other leg lands on the slab, so I C-Clamp a plywood board to the slab and land on carriage bolts. Then use ratchet straps to hold it down. The flee markets in the SW sell rebar stakes with rings welded to them. On the screw auger leg I drive a couple of these rebars to strap to. Chris

Yes, and I use the crook on the stake to go thru the leg support. that way. IF you need to get it up. You don't have to pull the stake completely out of the ground to roll up the awning. Just raise it a little, and slide the foot out from under it.

People talk about carporting slowing down the rolling up process. But in fact. It only takes about 5 seconds to get the feet snapped back into the brackets on the side of the RV.

Asking here: Don't the awning "feet" have holes in them so that you can anchor them with tent spikes?

Do the dealers not show people that the awning can be done this way? It is so much nicer than having the awning with the arms out, however, I don't think the awning is as stable.

Truth is. It is more stable, and a tent stake is all that is needed to keep it from sliding. The tie downs will keep it on the ground

CW has screw type stakes with nuts and bolts to anchor your posts down also use straps to hold in place when its windy I do it all the time got tired of knocking myself out when going somewhere can leave a nice bump on the noggin ouch.

I use a tent stake. With the curled hook side holding the awning. You just want to stop it from sliding, the tie downs will keep it on the ground, and IF the wind should get up high enough to warrant pulling in the awning. You can get the tent stakes out pretty quick
