Our MH has electric awning, with similar issue - front awning arm is such that when awning is extended, door cannot be opened all the way and latched back against the wall (something we like to do). From the factory, it came with a bar on the top of the door that limited door to only opening to 90 degrees, which we really hated.
This issue had me considering relocating the awning completely, but dealer where we bought it came up with a much better, absolutely brilliant solution, that we are very happy with:
First, they removed the bar limiting the door's travel. Then, they installed one latch against the wall of the MH, that we can use to latch the door against the MH when awning is not extended. They also installed an angled latch on the back side of the battery compartment door (located in front of the main door).
When awning is extended, we can open the battery compartment door, and latch the main door on the latch on back of battery compartment door. This holds the door out at about a 30 deg. angle away from the MH, just far enough to allow the awning to be extended but still keeps the door open enough to be out of the way. Allows us to leave the main door open, latched in place like we have always liked to do whether awning is extended or not. Kudos to John's RV service department (Lexington, SC) for coming up with that solution, I never would have thought of it. :)
Our electric awning's arms are up high enough they are not in the way at all, so even if you could, there's no need to disconnect them and set them on the ground. We did used to do that, though, with the TT and manual awning we had before.
