Here are some of my tricks that I didn't see discussed.
1. Use two tent pegs per awning leg foot and drive them in at opposite angles. Harder for the wind to dislodge.

2. If you use a tie down drive the anchor at an angle under the cement pad if site has a pad.
3. I generally find the awning more stable in winds if I leave attached to camper rather than anchoring to ground.
4. Awning let out only part way when higher winds are present and you still get the advantage of some awning cover.
