Air conditioner struggling

I don't know what the specs are on my ac unit. But it is around 31 Celsius full sun.. We are in a non shade site. Have the temp set to 71 and we left for the day. Just got back and it is still running and the temp in the trailer is 77.
We are hooked to the 30 amp plug. Is this normal?

  • Not sure if I should start a new thread or not. Wife just called from the trailer. The main breaker in the trailer tripped. When she resets again, it trips again. I am not there to investigate but it doesn't sound good.
  • There things you can do to help. Plugging up over head vents with cushions, ensuring you filter and could are clean and keeping shades/ blinds closed.
  • If you can, measure the temperature of the air at the AC return and compare it to the air temp as it comes out of unit. If the difference is 20 degrees or more (F) then the AC is doing all it can do. Find shade!
  • Very general...but we have found that about the best you can expect with 1 A/C and high outside temps is about 20 degrees F cooling or maybe a few more.

We were in 110 and were able to be to 87 inside...constant running.
