Air Shocks
Currently driving a Ram 1500 with Hemi. Has plenty of power to pull the camper but I am riding low. The truck is only used to pull the camper otherwise it is a third vehicle. What do you recommend for air shocks? Why? Thank you

- Air shocks (air bags?) to level the truck? Or air shocks because you are over the truck’s payload? “Pulling” the camper is one issue. “Carrying” the weight is another. And more serious. Doesn’t make a difference if the RAM is a third vehicle or tenth. Is it capable or not is the issue.
- You want air bags, not air shocks. The shock mounts on a truck aren't designed to support weight.
I've had Airlift bags on 3 different trucks. They worked well and didn't develop any leaks in the bags. I had problems with the plumbing leaking but that's not really the bags' fault. - Air bags level the truck. They do not increase the truck’s payload.
- Air bags are simply added springs, of course you can carry more weight (payload} with them. Whether other components, such as tires, wheels and axles are up to the task is for you to research.

I have had them on two truck and developed the same for air leaks. I would still use them but first choice are Timbrens- No mention of a weight distribution hitch here? Come on guys.
- Adding air bags to a Ram 1500 is a good idea. They'll give you a more controlled ride regardless of how you use the truck.
My son put them on his 1500 and love's em. He loads his up with camping gear and people and tows a 17' ski boat.
They're pretty inexpensive compared to models for other suspension. They just slip inside the rear coils. - Wonder if bicycle tire sealants would work on air bags ?
Liquid snot...AKA Green Slime - Check out Sumo Springs. Polyurethane bump stop replacements that operate somewhat like air bags with no leakage/pump up/air down concerns. Similar to Timbrens but more cushioned. Fairly simple install.
