Adding air bags to a Ram 1500 is a good idea. They'll give you a more controlled ride regardless of how you use the truck.
My son put them on his 1500 and love's em. He loads his up with camping gear and people and tows a 17' ski boat.
They're pretty inexpensive compared to models for other suspension. They just slip inside the rear coils.
