AirBNB style site for RVers

Does anyone know of a site where homeowners offer parking for RVers?

Am parked in a friend's driveway in prime Austin and he asked about doing this to make money. My home is also in a prime town (one that has no RV parks) and I'd consider doing it too.

  • Sounds like a good way to get yourself in trouble with the local zoning board, HOA, and/or your neighbors. If you live out in the country and want to do this, you might not have anyone complain. Do it in the jurisdiction of any municipality I'm familiar with and you'd get shut down pretty quick.

I'm not a fan of HOA's, and the area I live in thankfully doesn't have one, but it is (just barely) within the city limits and comes under the zoning and land-use restrictions set by the local ordinance. There's also such a thing as "extra-territorial jurisdiction" that most municipalities have over land surrounding their boundaries, and it can extend for several miles. So, don't assume you're off the hook just because you live outside the city limits.

Better investigate this thoroughly before jumping into it.

  • I often thought that it would be a great idea. Specially since a lot of us have RV Parking with Hookups in our yards as RV'rs.
  • Is this something that would have a decent audience for it? I could build this pretty easily.
  • There are or have been a few. One was an online group called something like "Driveways and Backyards". The other was a subscription group and I don't even nearly recall the name. I would bet that there are others, but those are the two I have seen.

  • AirBnB will not accept such listings. I tried. I think it's a great idea. They do not agree.

Edit: I assume you mean just the space. That is what is not allowed. Now... if there is an RV there and you are renting the RV, in place, as the place to to stay... that is allowed
