All Electric Boondocking

My goal is to boondock the desert southwest.

I purchased a used 25' Phoenix Cruiser 2551. The previous owner installed an electric range top and a marine refrigerator because the wife had some phobia about propane (even though her bunk was right over the tank).

My gut tells me the stove top definitely needs to be returned to gas (I was given the original and it's not difficult to swap) as I don't want to run the generator any more than necessary.

The 120/12v marine unit I'm not sure about. I'm fairly certain that needs to be returned to 120/gas but I don't know about battery draw, etc. about the 12v side. Obviously again I don't want to run the generator any more than necessary.

Am I correct; the marine frig has to go as well?

TIA
  • I have the 12 volt/120 volt refrigerator in my Class B and would not want to have another gas refrigerator. It is far superior and the battery draw is minimal and quite manageable. It does not have to be level to operate, a big consideration when finding a parking place.
  • Probably. Hard to say unless you find its specs on the web, or you have a manual. RV refers generally draw in the neighborhood of 300w.
