Thanks Jeff for giving me things to think about. Giving the kids extra-curricular lessons (like music) was one hurdle that I hadn't quite figured out. I know there is internet etc, but it is nice having someone sit next to you and teach you. DH is into sports and no doubt would love to see his kids participate in team sports so that would be something for him to consider (oddly enough even as a former all ACC athlete I could care less about team sports). But as I said, it is a pretty big deal to DH.
I would have to put a bit more thought than I have into the general socialization. With homeschooling in one location the socialization is easy (in fact most homeschool families have more socialization than they have time). But figuring it out on the road would no doubt be different. I would hope to do things like visiting relatives whenever we are local as well as annual trips to family church camp etc., but I haven't actually thought all of that through so I am glad you brought it up.
Have fun in Virginia! It's my home state and a great place to live (well all except the terrible planning in metro DC which makes for horrendous traffic).
