It may be different, but in many states Amazon will charge sales tax on anything SOLD by Amazon.
When you go to buy an item, see if there is the link that says "may be available from other sellers" and click on it. Often, you will find the item SOLD by another company but FULFILLED by Amazon with Prime shipping. In Utah, no sales tax on that purchase.
