My understanding is that sales tax is charged if the company has an actual "presence" in the state. Kansas has a distribution center so they charge sales tax in Kansas. Missouri has no Amazon presence so there is no sales tax, unless the 3rd party vendor has a presence in Missouri then there is a sales tax charged.
