Another GVWR Travel trailer question

Sorry but here is another weight question. I've been towing our 33 ft TT with a Ford F-250 so towing is no problem. My question concerns TT GVWR.

Loaded to camp with 2 empty grey ranks and approx 10 gallons in black tank our TT is 7000lbs weighed on cat scales unhooked from truck

Hooked up to truck with WDH is 6300lbs.

My question

TT gvwr is 7720lbs

A bit light on tongue weight but our camper is a rear kitchen model with residential fridge etc so not sure how to add weight except load forward of trailer axles. Not worried f250 pulls it light a utility trailer

If 700lbs is being distributed to truck does that mean I have 720lbs of available cargo capacity. (7720-7000lbs=720)

Or 1420lbs available (7720-6300=1420)

I have no need to add 1420 lbs of cargo but would like to know where I stand if I wanted to tow with fresh water and more supplies

For truck payload available I've got about 3000lbs left with WDH hooked up.

  • GVWR = the total weight of the camper, at the axles and "including" the actual loaded tongue weight. This does not matter if there is a WD hitch or not.

You said 700# was "distributed" to the truck, maybe you are using the wrong word, the truck carries the tongue weight, it is not really distributed there.

    Hi,

Trying to help here but something does not look right with those 2 numbers. Maybe a typo? Is the 2nd number supposed to be 7,300#?

    I thought you said:

TT weighs 7,000# "not" hitched to the truck.

TT weighs 6,300# "hitched" to the truck with WD engaged.

Something is missing. What exactly are those numbers, trailer axles weights or trailer GVW including the actual loaded tongue weight?

The trailer axles take on more weight when the WD hitch is engaged, yet your weights you are comparing show 700# less. And there is no normal WD hitch on a 33 ft camper that lowers the axle weights by 700#. Or even adds 700#.

Help us understand how exactly how you obtained those 2 weights so we can help better.

    Hope this helps

    John
