If I bring my trailer to you to wax and your kids drives his bike into it or a tree falls on it,your homeowners will cover!
If the kid hits it with the bike, your homeowners will cover the damage subject to the deductible on your policy. If a tree falls on it, unless you did something to cause the tree to fall on it or knew the tree was going to fall, the comprehensive coverage on the vehicle will cover the damage subject to the owner's deductible. Comprehensive coverage is not limited as to where the damage takes place except in very rare instances such as consignment riders which started this conversation.
The same would hold true for the theft of the unit. The owner's comprehensive coverage is not limited to their own property and would cover it wherever they parked it. The owner may have some explaining to do if they parked it in the middle of the "hood" unlocked with keys in it but even then the insurance company is going to eventually pay in most cases.
