I have laminae flooring. With the installed layer of cork rubber and the attached rubber backing, it has a nice feel to it. It does nothing to the integrity of the subfloor.
If you want to increase the rigidity of the floor, you could install another layer of sheeting on top of what you have. That additional sheet would need to be installed with adhesive since most of the sandwich type floors have an aluminum frame.
