No it's not. Part of doing research is verifying that the source of the information is legitimate and knowledgeable. Just because you say you know the way doesn't mean you do - or that your way is the best way to go. Just because 5 complete strangers on the Internet say "go this way" doesn't make that way right - those 5 people may be total whackjobs or may have a different idea of what "best" means.
Asking the forum and then VERIFYING the information via maps, GPS, etc., is doing research. Blindly accepting those directions is not research. And yes, it's amazing how many people blindly accept what they're told on forums and don't verify the information.
