- el_RojoExplorerwe had a great time at our local COE park. Does that mean I was bothering everybody else? LOL.
- buckyExplorer IIWhy is it that when campers have a party, they are told to hold it down, but when somebody rents a pavillion they can bring a DJ and Kenny Chesney sized speakers and just tear it up? This is before quiet time by the way. Great weekend though, and glad that the 250 family members involved could get together. They even had at least one charter bus. This was at a MD state park, but it happens in VA parks as well.
- poppin_freshExplorerWe had a great time here in the north east. The CG we were at was probably only 80% full and there were no major issues. Like a lot of other places, we have had almost zero days without rain in the last month and I think it kept a lot of people home. The weather report wasn't great, but ended up being virtually rain free.
- BeerCanExplorerI went fishing with my kids and almost got run over :B J/K LOL
It rained so much here that I cannot get my camper out of my yard because it is a swamp. So we had to cancel our trip, but we still had a BBQ, fireworks and some fun. - Shot-N-AzExplorerWe had a wonderful time camping over the 4th. We arrived Wednesday afternoon and left Sunday morning. Nice, quiet national park, absent the drama so many write of in this thread. The only negative thing I could say is I was surprised at the lack of flag displays in the campground. I would have thought that this holiday, more than any other, would bring out the flag wavers.
- FredzoExplorerWe made the mistake of joining daughter and Son-in-law at Lake Isabella in Southern Calif. Had to run the generator 24/7, only one useable boat ramp, and people illegally camping directly on the beach, forcing you to walk through their "campsites" to access your boat!
It took two hours to launch and three hours to recover the boat!
We complained to the Camp Host, and to the Rangers about the beach squatters, but they both said that they could do nothing, as the BLM was in charge of the beach area! There are signs all over the place that say "Day Use Only", but I imagine that the beach campers couldn't read them!
I had two beach campers asking if they could use our bathroom, as they were pregnant and couldn't walk the extra 100' to the potty! They had plenty of cars or trucks to drive up there! Luckily, my wife was in there when they asked!
Oh, and the weather people lied! They said that nighttime temps up there would be in the high sixties, and it never got below 85! During the day 103-105! Had to go buy ga$ and add it to the Moho to be sure I made it thru Saturday nite.
Hardly used the boat at all, due to all the water toys buzzing around. Too hot to fish, and hard to navigate thru all the buzzers!

Ahh yes, major holiday camping. Lots of nice folks trying to enjoy themselves, mixed in with a small percentage of idiots who ruin the time for many.
Have seen this many times. That's one of the reasons we stopped major holiday camping. Now, of course, being retired, we go during the week and pass up holiday camping. - 4huskersExplorerWe got lucky when two site opened up at Lake Mineral Wells SP. Since near record lows and moderate high temps were forcast I was surprised anything was available. It was amazing to sleep with the AC off and the windows open. That ust doesn't happen in Texas during July. Our site was covered up with deer and all other kind of fur and feathered critters. Two things happened while I was walking the old dog. First, I came on a guy mowing his campsite; I thought that was a little odd. Most people try to get away from the urban noise and yesterday my dog was attacked by a yellow Lab. My hound is a smallish shorthair pointer about 14 years old. The Lab was large with a bad attitude. Loose dogs is second only on my sh*t list to people who don't pick up after their dogs.

Rain, more rain, then lotsa rain, then the sky opened up and dropped mother of all rains, now just a little rain,,,,,.....
Here in Kentucky we are going on our third day of virtually non stop rain. Only a 100% chance of rain for today. I do feel empathy for those sticking it out in tents and walking to the restroom with umbrellas. That can't be fun.
Lots of outdoor activites canceled.
I used to love the sound of rain on the roof, now I hate it. - moose888ExplorerWent to Gettysburg for the holiday for the 150th reenactment which was great ! Now the camp ground Round Top Campground well it sucked ! The sight next to me is a season renter and a junk collector. I was talking to him and he is a HVAC contractor and collects copper from his jobs and keeps it at the camp ground. The pool was nice but everything else was run down. The park seems to be more into seasonal campers who leave TT and 5th wheels here all summer. The store was not much closed by 7pm and had very little in it. The activities was a two night outside movie of Gettysburg. I could have just kept my mouth shut but they raised the price because of the holiday and 150th reenactment so it cost us almost $700 for the week. If you want your moneys worth go some where else not this camp ground. Oh yea ! my sight was supposed to have a WIFI but then they said you had to pay by the day. NO security what so ever NONE come and go as you please anyone !
KOA here I come !!!!!!!!! ONE STAR can you give less?
