Any actual experience with a Harbor Freight WDH?

Yes I purchased WDH from harbor freight along with the friction sway control and the electric tounge jack. No problems pulling my trailer to Florida a couple times. Only problem was the jack broke and they replaced it with no problem. I would recommend anyone to buy it there.

Looks like a knock off of the old EZ Lift hitch, which is the original WD hitch. That style has probably been around for 50 years. Probably nothing wrong with it if the hitch head is good and strong. I used an EZ Lift for 10 years with single friction sway control on my old trailer and it worked fine. Went to the Equalizer when I went to the bigger trailer.

BTW, Husky, and others have copied the old EZ Lift design. Lots of those clones out there.

That's not going to stop people from weighing in simply because you said the magic words, "Harbor Freight."

In fact telling people that they should only respond if they have actual experience encourages the exact opposite... It's one thing I learned from being on forums for the last 15-ish years...

;-) I dunno, in the 20-ish years I've been on forums, I've found it depends upon the forum. Look at the responses so far. Tells me this is a good forum.

I have two friends also using the HF WDH on lighter loads than mine. One is under 7000 lbs and the other is closer to 5000 lbs. Neither one has had any issues, but they only tow maybe four or five times a year and their combined mileage is less than mine.

I think he expected a 7-1/2" height adjustment up or down from the receiver and did not realize that was total adjustment range with more bias above the receiver. He needed a shank with a longer drop for his application.
