Have to agree with bodyshop bob, welcome to GA, just remember we are GA and not somewhere else. Also all of GA isn't the same. Although Atlanta is the capital, it isn't the only place in the state. Atlanta is no longer true GA, it is an international city with many many non-natives. South GA or North GA mountains (either and both) have true GA atmosphere.
As to cost of living, it varies from state to state. Even when I go fulltime, I plan to keep GA as my domicile state. Over 62, you get to exclude some retirement income, and then the exclusion increases at 65. GA has just changed to a new method of charging ad velorum taxes on vehicles that you pay when you purchase/register for the first time. Property taxes vary from county to county and even adjoining counties can have very different tax rates for the same valued property.
I forgot to add that my county does not prohibit RV's from being parked in the yard or having a garage that is suitable for RV. There are some subdivisions that their HOA prohibits parking in front, but I don't think any will prohibit in a closed garage.
