Guy Roan: we are headed back to Michigan in early May - and we will be driving my minivan (this, in hindsight, is the worst possible time to be without an RV). We're near Canaveral, so can make the drive in 2 days.
Friends who traveled home recently said to bring TP (like the tail end of a roll) in case of none being available at a rest area. They also found that most fast-food places are not allowing the public to use their restrooms in order to protect their employees. I will be armed with hand sanitizer/masks/wipes, etc. For $25, I bought a "Luggable Loo" - basically a 5gal bucket with a seat and lid that gets lined with a trash bag, add kitty litter, and you have a cheap porta-potty. Ed can get away with using a shrub as a urinal - me, not so much :-) But Ed says we'll use truck stops as much as possible - and we'll sleep in the van, so I'm bringing small pillows and sleeping bags. We have 2 dogs and have found the hotel rooms that welcome dogs, aren't always a hallmark of cleanliness to start with. We figure one night's discomfort is better than bringing C-19 home with us.
