When we had our dp motor home I pulled a five speed Fiesta with no problems what so ever. The auto's did have some issues but were more related to operator error in not disconnecting the battery after the display showed "ready for towing". All the ones I saw that were messed up the computer had slipped the transmission back into regular mode.
On the manual all you have to do is put it in neutral and go. I used the ready brute elite tow system on mine.
