Take one out for a test drive, and take it across a scale.
Then you will KNOW what the weight is!
Then test drive a 2-door, and do the same thing.
The weight difference, if it is considerable, will give you a debating point with DW.
Good luck.
I towed a 2006 Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited 2-door behind a Tioga Class C with 460 V8 for a while. It did OK, even on mountain passes. The Jeep was well modified (suspension lift, body lift, bumpers, winch, skid pans, 30 gallon fuel tank, etc.) I towed it with a 5000 lb. capacity towbar. I never did get around to weighing it.
Now I tow a 2005 Wrangler Unlimited 2-door with the same towbar. I haven't weighed it, either.
