Thanks for the replies. We will be looking at both styles. Like
Scott, I have had Jeeps for about 35 years and always looked at the 4 door as more a "city" Jeep, not what I would be using hunting, fishing, and running around in the woods. At my age maybe I should be looking at luxury Jeeps with nav systems and leather seats.
I bought a 1961 Willy's CJ-5 39 years ago. Now after having owned 9 jeeps I can say that the technology in the new Jeeps come at a cost. I would guess my JKUR is every bit of 5500lbs. It is the heaviest of the 3 toads I have but the added weight is not really a factor on the passes. I do Monarch and I-70 and Raton and La Veta and Wolf Creek every year and I see not a performance or MPG difference with any of my TOADS. A TOAD is a TOAD and will decrease performance and MPG. And I am an anomaly because I know they are back there, contrary to popular opinion. I often go camping without a TOAD and the performance and MPGs are much, much better!
FWIW.
