Good hygiene is one thing but the paranoia people have today about things like this is not healthy and is ruining their own immune systems and that of their children, creating hard to treat new bacteria’s and diseases…
Antibacterial soaps, lotions and hand sanitizers every few minutes… really the lack of commonsense reaches both ends of the spectrum as seen in the OP and some of the reactions to it…
Almost everything we touch is antibacterial something or the next thing we touch will be antibacterial… antibacterial products has even made it into the food supply… Today more than half of the hand soaps on the market have an antibacterial additive, and virtually all of the hand sanitizers do…
Advertisers have mounted an all-out effort to make us scared of germs so we buy their antimicrobial products. But in reality, our world is meant to contain bacteria and other microbes, and it is the interaction between our immune systems and these microbes that keeps us free of allergies and in good health …
For sure what this lady did was disgusting to see, but odds a in her favor it didn’t kill her or even make her sick, and if she does it this way often she most likely has a better immunity to it than you or I do… and might actually be healthier with a stronger immune system for it…
Plumbers will work in and around worse things for hours at a time and they are not dying in the streets because of their profession, they just get paid well for it…
J,I usually agree with your posts as they are well thought out ...this one is not. The OP was not discussing the over use of hand sanitizers or the advertising industry.....he/she was discussing a foul unsanitary and potentially hazardous infectious action taken by an ignorant person. There is no sense in attempting to defend the indefensible or in attempting to down play such a disgusting and stupid act. Those who attempt to by stating "I don't wear gloves and never have" only display their own lack of knowledge and participation in unsanitary practices. Following what seems to be your logic all homes should just discharge their waste into the street and let it run into the storm drains. Human waste is foul and disease causing....that is why societies finally instituted sanitary sewer systems and placed regulations on septic systems. The Romans figured that out over 2 thousand years ago and ancient armies learned the benefit of moving their latrines away from water sources and the camp.
