Anybody flush their black tank with a hose onto the ground?

I saw folks dump their TT once with no hose at all. Just pull close to the hole and let it rip. All the man had was a stick and was doing his best to persuade everything to go into the hole. And the smell from 50 feet away turned my stomach. I decided not to dump there and found someplace else. Most states have a law that your dumping system must be closed (sealed or threaded hose to the inlet) for obvious reasons.
