I have a conversion van very similar to, but not as old as, the OP. Also have a small trailer like he does.
I took out the extra seating, installed a sink and cabinet, water system, fridge, microwave, hot plate, porta potty, rubbermade drawer set, and cot. It has a built in generator that can run the AC.
I consider that a camper van.
This OP is a she...LOL. I have converted my conversion RVan over the last 4 year to include a frig, microwave and kitchen, PP, Sterilite cart storage under a built in shelf, built in travel crates for my 2 dogs, a recliner/bed, Dish network/satellite system a computer and my own wifi. It has a Coleman AC/heater on top and electrical port on the side. The previous owners were also campers. Altho I am gone 5 months out of 12, I take care of our rental properties from my "conversion" van. And I might add my 1992 GMC is nearly immaculate and rust free (it got a scrape this winter). I got a Yamaha tri-fuel generator but found I just didnt need it and left it home this year. When I travel alone I feel safer staying in campgrounds and they always have electricity so no need.
