Anyone Carry Tree Trimmer?

This summer I have encountered two campgrounds with branches that need to be trimmed in order to get into the site with my RV. In one, I tore off small branches while maneuvering to get into the site and was very concerned about damaging the roof. I spoke to one manager and he was reluctant to trim the branches because he didn't want to trim the tree because it had fruit! The other campground just didn't follow up after I told them about it. I'm curious if any of you carry your own trimmer or pole saw? I'm thinking about doing it to protect my RV.

It's not vandalism or harmful to a tree to cut a small limb off. I'm not paying to stay at a site that won't allow me to put my awning out because of someone else's laziness. I carry a small hand saw. They should thank me for doing their maintenance work for them.

  • I am beginning to think I should cary some tree trimming equipment as well. Last time at the KOA the tree branches were just a few inches over the top of the pickup cab. Luckily the only reason I was there was to use their dump station. I'll never go back though unless they trim their trees.
  • I normally do not carry trimmers while campin. I have, however, climbed up on my roof and snapped off dead branches from pine trees located in the National Forests. I would not take it upon myself to do any pruning in private campgrounds. If I suspect vegetation that could damage my rig in a private campground, or RV park, I will either ask for a new site or ask for some pruning. If the management is unwilling to act, I will go somewhere else.
  • I carry a SvenSaw which can be used on a pole if necessary, and a pair of hand clippers!

  • Yes, we carry tree trimming equipment. The last time we had to use it was at a KOA in TN. We had to cut off branches to get out of our site. No way are we going to damage our 5th wheel because campgrounds refuse to trim trees. As full timers, we prefer wide open sites, not only to aid in tuning our rooftop satellite dish but also to avoid damage from trees.
  • no but it seems most campground owners don't think triming trees in important or don't care so I'm thinking it would be a good idea to carry a small tree trimmer
  • I carry a small hand saw for this purpose. Not going to scratch my paint to get into a sight.
