Gray water still has an odor to it, yrs ago a guy next to me did that at a campground where the ground was crushed stone, the gray water stained the ground & yeah it stunk. It also come downs to how well of a job over time are you removing the food stuff before it hits the drain, I'm sure most folks don't pay too much attention to this.
Now this said we have visited some OLDER parks in CT that allow or are grandfathered where you can dump the gray water directly on the ground, some of the parks have a pvc pipe that sticks shallow into the ground and some just let you run the hose on the ground and drain...Go figure as CT has to be one of the most regulated/permitted states in the US
