I noticed when blowing the lines (50 psi) that after the water is expelled the gurgling never seems to stop, but it is diminished. So I think that at least some water remains.
I noticed that too so what I did was pause a while, (In my case I had no choice the air compressor needed a re-charge) and blew again. Pause like 2-5 minutes between blows.
USE a tank type compressor not a tankless (I have both)
I did this like 5-10 times, and finally got no more water out,
Finally: PEX tubing can survive freeze/thaw quite nicely, not so good at sunlight, but it's great for freeze/thaw.
What breaks is the connectors, and threaded adapters.. They are made of a hard plastic that cracks (Tested this theory a few times) .
They are not, normally, the low points.
Finally, The reason freezing damages pipes is because they are FULL of water which expands when it solidifies (turns to ice) in this it is unique, only substance on earth that does that. However if the pipe is say half full of air,, no damage can be done, since air, unlike ice, compresses very easily (ice too can be compressed but it is not done easily) (This last is proven by ice core samples at the polar ice cap by the way, the bottom is denser than the top, indicating compression).
I used the wet method one year, the dry (Air only) several years and now use the best method.. SOUTH. Works real nice,
Do not forget to pink traps, toilets and the like.
