Anyone have damage from blow-only winterizing?
Sorry... I tried reading through all the replies... Did anyone actually reply that they used the blow-only method *and* they had damage? IMWTK :)
Yes, there were a couple. Mostly older units with copper plumbing.
But I'm thinking, unless the unit is designed intelligently (a big leap of faith) with the correct slope for all the plumbing, and avoiding couplings in low points, there is definitely a possibility for moisture retained after blowing to settle back down in the low points and cause trouble. So I've been convinced: I'll continue as I have always done: using the antifreeze, after first blowing out the lines. Why the two steps? Because if I don't get all the water out with the air, maybe I'll dilute the antifreeze. And besides, I still need to blow out the line leading from the outside hose fill connection because that one doesn't get flushed with the antifreeze.
