Sorry- I didn't read the whole thread- but this subject comes up several times a year.
I think there are usually one or two people who report that they had damage in spite of blowing out with air.
Most other folks say it works fine.
The unfortunate bottom line is that it probably works great except when it doesn't, and then expensive things can happen.
So, bring on Clint Eastwood as Dirty Hairy..."I know what your thinking...did I blow all the water out, or is there a little left in exactly the wrong spot...you gotta ask yourself one thing...do you feel lucky?"
Just blowing- it's pretty safe to prevent freeze damage, but I won't be paying the OP's repair bill if that statement is wrong in his case...he will.
