Retirement requires a mind shift. I was like the OP - when I had 2 weeks off around Christmas I would get bored. I was worried that retirement would be like that. To my surprise, we stay very busy and the time allows you to focus on the smaller things in life. I now enjoy yard work, washing vehicles, ect because they are not in addition to working a 50 hour work week. We do a lot of traveling both with our camper and without. I feel fortunate to retire at 57. Now 60, my wife and I are planning long RV trips and want to spend the next 10 years doing what we enjoy.
