Nice reading this thread, hearing lotsa folks' thoughts on retirement.
A couple of stories about my Dad. When he retired, he told me that he walked into work one day and it was like a light switch. One day he was loving work, the next day, he felt he had to get out. When he told me that, I was in my late 30's and I thought to myself "I love what I do so much, that will never happen to me." Well it did, just the same way he said it happened to him. I was in a meeting with a customer one day and the words stopped meaning anything, all I heard was "blah blah blah...)
The other story he told me was 5-6 years after he retired, he said "I'm so busy now, I don't know how I ever had time to work!" I retired last month at age 64 and I still sorta feel like I am just taking a day off and have to go back tomorrow. DW is still working, so the big things will have to wait til she is able to be with me more.
