What a great thread!
Some of the posts made me LOL; some made me smile; and some made me cry.
Here is where I'm at:
Best friend dead at 35 years old. A guy killed him in an auto accident.
Brother, killed in the line of duty, 49 years old protecting the people of this great country 6 months from retirement.
Daughter died at the age 13; brain cancer; 2 weeks before her 14th birthday. Didn't really get to live life or think about retirement.
Best friend #2 dead at the age of 59, pancreatic cancer. He got to retire 6 months before he was diagnosed.
A classmate was just diagnosed with cancer that has metastasized all over his body.
Workmate was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Had the operation and is doing so, so...............but...........
Friends dad dead at 62. Heart attack, No smoker or drinker. Just died.
Harsh lessons in life taught me one thing.
Life is short.............dead is long. For me, I want to retire as early as I can. Sad thing is, the way things are, I won't be able to retire until I figure about 85 or so. :(
