To me any gasser is underpowered... :D
But I just went through this with the DW wanting a 36 ft Brookstone 5'er.. I didn't buy the trailer despite the great deal offered (and it was a GREAT deal) my 2012 F250 with 6.7 diesel would certainly pull the trailer however my tires would be over max by about 600 lbs each when doing so... I personally don't want a blowout in the Texas heat on a secondary hwy, some hot summer day...
Before y'all start telling me the truck will do it just get more load range.. these are the max load range "E" 10 ply(3160 lbs) available without buying larger tires and wheels something I'm not willing to do.. Sure I could change from the 3:31 gears to 4:10 and put 20" tires but I'd rather just find a trailer I can safely haul and stay within the limits of my truck..
In fact we already did... we're in the process of buying a Cougar 333MKS and equipping it with all the bells and whistles that the Brookstone had...
and nearly 20 grand cheaper, 4K less GVWR and over 1500 lbs less pin weight to boot...
Not as stout a trailer for sure... but more than sufficient for two 60+ year olds who are still working and just making long weekend trips 8-10 time a year and maybe one full week long trip a year...
