Anyone towing w/ a fixed Dolly ?

Anyone towing on a fixed dolly, meaning no swivel, no turntable, no steering on the dolly ? Supposedly they still make fixed dollys.
My idea is it would back up like a 2 wheeled trailer. But seems there would be some tire scrubbing on the dolly. Any experience, or thoughts?

That doesn't sound right. Didn't you mean "unlocked"?

  • We have a dolly like you describe.. The owners manual says NOT to back up as it will damage the dolly. I also says to make sure the front wheels/steering wheel are locked to avoid damaging your toad when turning.
  • I don't own a dolly but, I thought it is recommended you unlock the front wheels of the toad to allow them to swivel.

That would eliminate your idea of backing it like a 2 wheeled trailer.
  • I doubt very much it would back up like a 2 wheel trailer. You still have the rear axle of the car-being-towed on the ground, and THAT will be your problem. The only way to solve that one is to pick up both car axles, and that is to put it on a trailer, not just a dolly.
