1000 pounds of camping gear is actually pretty light for weekend RVers. And dry brochure weight can be 500 pounds lower than yellow sticker weight. I expect you will be closer to 8k loaded. That might put the truck over the receiver rating, rear axle rating, or payload/GVWR. 5.3L/4-spd trans would not be fun for me either. Are you prepared to upgrade your truck if you are not satisfied with performance?
