Why?

I try to go just a little slower than the normal 18 wheeler. That way, I don't have to worry about passing so many people; rather let them pass me.

That's basically what I do too. In Calif the limit is 55 mph when towing. I usually keep it around 62 with no problems. A friend is a Calif Highway Patrol office and he told me that trucks with trailers going a little over 55 is not high on his priority list to get a ticket. In fact he really doesn't look for that.

I also run what the trucks are doing, and if out west where interstates are straighter, wider, smoother I usually set the cruise at 65-70 mph....

The maximum speed limit pullng a trailer in Michigan is 65. If you're going to stay in the right lane drive any speed you feel comfortable and safe at. If you're going to be driving in any lane other than the right lane, you better be doing at least 70 and/or keeping up with traffic.
