Are some RV types easier to re-sell?

I'd like to know if it's easier/faster to re-sell bumper trailers, fifth wheels, Class A, or Class C, or would you say it's about the same? In particular I'd be considering a larger model of about 35 feet or more.
  • Look at what the dealers are selling. TT around 25 ft seem to sell best around here. Can be pulled by a 1/2 ton pickup. Bigger 5th wheels are very hard to unload used unless they are pretty old and cheap. Tried to sell my 2011 32 ft fiver last year, didn't get a single call. price and condition was very good, advertised all over. Moral, buy what you think you're going to keep because it isn't always easy to get rid of..

This; with one caveat. Any RV that is underpriced will probably sell the fastest.
I would agree with both of those statements.

However, I, myself, when purchasing an RV never factor into the equation how fast or what I may be able to resell it for. You never know what the market place and trends may be in the future. I never make any purchase based on that assumption.
  • JAC1982, you raise some interesting points. All things being equal (they're not) I like a 5th wheeler better. But as a counter-point I see some negatives that might make a 5th wheel harder to sell, even at 35+:

1 - requires a special hitch (extra cost)
2 - the hitch occupies much of the truck bed
    3 - generally more expensive
4 - generally heavier (requires more truck)
  • I would normally say TT's because of the cost and easier to pull with an average vehicle, but since we're talking 35' plus.... I'm not so sure.

For my own personal opinion, I wouldn't go anywhere near a TT that's 35'+... it's a bear to haul something that long that isn't a 5th wheel. Plus, it's harder to find places to camp in a long trailer like that. So that being said, I think a 5th wheel is better.

I have no experience with MH's so I can't speak there, but I would think there it would depend if you're talking buying brand new and reselling in a few years, or buying one that's used and reselling in a few years.

OK. For sake of argument we can include a large class C, about 32 feet. You think they're the easiest to sell? I'm not doubting you. I don't know because I'm new to this.
