Afer reading several posts and doing an archive search I see so many folks referring to 'moving to the darkside'. This being, in reference to buying (i.e)a TC and moving to the "darkside", a class A and moving to the "darkside", a TT and moving to the "darkside", an HTT and moving to the "darkside", a Class B and moving to the "darkside". Is there no RV that I can purchase and not have to move to the darkside?? :h I enjoy living life in the light..

Guess I don't do enough searches, I've never heard the term.

Many of us perhaps misguided individuals believe we have found the light...the One True Way To RV...but realize not all agree, and we are therefore evil. Evil sometimes tries to lure the innocent with gifts such as cookies or candy. The shiny red apple to Snow White, for example.We RVers - figuratively speaking - are offering free candy (benefits of our chosen type RV) to join us on the dark side. (Good mileage in the case of class Bs, more room in 5th wheels, convenience of having your truck if you tow a trailer, etc etc)Here's another definition from.googling: Someone might be humorously said to 'be going over to the dark side' if they opt for a preference for something not currently in fashion or not the accepted preference of their social group.

Interesting and enlightening explanation.I first heard the term used significantly when people were upgrading from tents and popups and HTT to RV's without any tenting (TT,5W, TH, CLASS C and A's). Always thought it was a reference to not having tenting any more which lets in more light than hard sided RV's.

Don't forget that before, "moving to the darkside," they have, "PULLED THE TRIGGER," when they bought whatever it is that is on the darkside.

I personally like "Keep the shiny side up and the greasy side down". The dark side always had Star Wars conotations to me.

Dark side,pull the trigger,bite the bullet....how many others can we think up?
"Pulled the trigger and bought the TV,RV,or...(?) Did they shoot the thing first and then buy a dead TV,RV or.... (????)
Being in the dark might be fun,maybe. Though "Looking on the bright side" seems
like a better idea.

People on the HDT forum say the same thing when buying a HDT to pull their 5th wheel trailer. Welcome to the darkside. Well to me going from a pickup truck or just going to a HDT is seeing the light. Not going to the darkside.

darkside: Luxury RVing as opposed to "camping". Having a larger carbon footprint. Class A vs. anything without its own means of propulsion.
