Rent a RV and explore Florida first. It is a large diverse state.
How about seeing some buffalo run free? Or talking to a cowpoke (in character) from the 1800's explaining how Florida had cattle? That can be done at Payne's Prairie State park, for just one example.
Almost every Florida State park has something unique and unusual to explore.
Remember with an RV it is not how important you go to be "away," but rather the fact that you are away.
When you get done with 161 Florida State parks, then move on to Georgia.
Relaxed trips where the kids can explore and learn something new will quickly build your love on RVing.
