Yes we were there for a few days. There are a few 'recreation' dwellings there but that is not the reason we went way up to that area. We went to see icebergs & were not disappointed. - path1Explorer

I could get link to work. But looked it up on a map. You're way up there. We would like to see the sun come up at least one time from the east coast. We live on west coast but we did it to Connecticut couple times.

Yes, when your eyes are closed different places do look the same:)
On Walmart...You have a really good idea...but also read their Corp policy on parking. Many places it is not Walmart that's against you parking overnight but the local gov't that says overnight is against the law.maybe the Walmart's who don't provide free overnight parking will see the light
Just my opinion...Unfortunately the last 10 years Walmart parking has gone just the opposite direction on parking. To many problems with drugs, trash and rude people. So unfortunate. Enjoy your trip, so much to see. - path1Explorer

We needed to get off Cape for the long weekend. Too many people. This place still has a few open sites tho. We like it because there are lots of trees and it's close enough that the DW can follow in her car.
Looks good. Trees...Don't know why but after snowbirding in AZ one of the things I miss was the trees in the NW. Still has openings... I thought places were sold out months ago. - kknowltonExplorer II
kknowlton & Murphsmom, we're headed to Ponderosa State Park later this summer. We haven't been there before, but it looks like a gorgeous park.
It is! And we were there during the height of the wildfires last summer, so it was very smoky (i.e. very little view). But the woods & general atmosphere - although it's a busy park - were still lovely. - Deleted_per_opExplorerkknowlton & Murphsmom, we're headed to Ponderosa State Park later this summer. - JohansengirlExplorerMy husband & I are RVing across the US, coast to coast and everything in between. We stay in parks some of the time but often we are just driving to get to a new location. We tend to make our driving days in daylight so we don't miss a thing. So we spend a lot of nights in places that are just to have a place to park, eat and sleep.
We utilize the free parking in Walmart parking lots and have been pleased with the ease of use and secure environment. All of you RVers out there who use this service I have a suggestion; go in and buy what you can at the store where ycou spent the night. Then take a bit of time to drop a thank you note in the mail to the manager for allowing you to stay. I include the sales receipt in the note so the manager can see it is a win/win situation. The manager's name and address are at the top of every Wallmart receipt. Maybe if we all take the time to say thank you this wonderful free travel benefit will remain in place...and maybe the Walmart's who don't provide free overnight parking will see the light. - jplante4Explorer IIBoston/Cape Cod KOA in Middleboro MA.
