Army Corps of Engineers

The 14 day rule is fairly strictly enforced at West Point Lake's R. Shafer Heard campground. But, you can move from one West Point campground to another as they are not networked. I did, however, get an exception one time but it had to be approved by the Park Ranger. He claimed he would not approve it had it been one of their busier times.

14 days in and then 14 days out. We stayed in Piedmont Mo. one summer skipping from Corp park to Corp park. There are three there within just a few miles of each other. I have been welcomed at both State and Federal parks for longer than the 14 day limit. Really is up to the ranger and sometimes the park host.

Did the federal parks include Army Corps sites? Trying to determine how strictly this rule is enforced.

Most are strictly enforced when they are nearly full. When they are less used then the restrictions are milder.
Sort of depends on the host and management of campground.

If I am understanding you correctly, you have been allowed to stay on one campsite for more than the 14 day period? Or, if not the same campsite, at least allowed to move to another campsite within the same campground?

Plan/count on 14 days max. then out of that park

Make plans accordingly.

Any allowances over 14 days is hit/miss proposition. Too big of a maybe to rely on.

It's been our experience -- if the camp is full or near full, you'll have to move -- if not, you might stay if supervisor allows it. I'd make my plans to include moving every fourteen days ... and only expect a 'longer stay' at the point of use if you can when the days are up.

The thing with COE is everyone is moving around - in and out - every fourteen days, which means people are moving out often, and coming in often. So, just fit yourself into the shuffle.

Just like any other law...Depends on who is enforcing it, and mostly at the local level. The rules might be nationwide and in writing but that doesn't mean they are enforced equally across the board. Not saying that is good or bad, just a fact.

I know that if you try to reserve a site on line, they hold you to the 14 days in one month rule. I guess you could use a different name and email address?

That would kinda be like cheating, wouldn't it? I am not pointing to you personally, but too many people trying to beat the system. This ruins it for those of us that try to follow the rules.
