At what point do you step in and offer help?

I've offered help about 3 or 4 times when it became obvious that the driver was going to hit something or someone.
One was very angry at me butting in. So I said sorry to intrude - can I have your insurance information because you are going to do $20,000 damage to my truck and trailer in about two feet.
He got mad and left. It was a state park, so I didn't have a manager upset about me running off a client.
Most of the time when I see folks having newbie trouble, I make it a point to introduce myself later after they are setup. The conversation always turns to the rigs and such, and I can often help with answers to common questions.
The ones which bother me are friends who are becoming unable to handle their rigs - especially big fifth wheels - due to age. Had a friend age 86 fall in this 5er this summer, and he insisted towing it home even with his shoulder taped up.
Don't know if they will be back camping again - his wife sold the rig and truck. Maybe they can get a smaller class C. (She can drive it, and will ask for help).
